It's actually hilarious how cupholders are kind of centrepiece of every single Doug's review. And still he fails to understand that a generic set of cupholders stuck by a pair of screws to a wooden batten with some duct tape definitely isn't "aftermarket" and even less "designed for this particular car". But I guess this ignorance is part of the package - I must have seen a hundred of his reviews...

I am very familiar with the CX2200 Pallas from 1976. I believe that the hydraulic system in yours needs to be rebuilt. Is raised and lowered far too slow, and you mentioned roll. I had those issues with mine back in the day, but cleaning out the entire system, and replacing master and slave cylinders, the car was like a magic carpet

I love how Doug made fun of all the TURBO! badges and the fact that it made 170 HP from 2.5L I4 (it was 70' after all) , while America had 7L V8's putting out similar power with like 3 times the fuel consumption. I guess they thought small displacement can only be replaced by bigger displacement. :D

I like most of your videos, but i think you should have more information about the cars you reviewed. Like: 170cv is a lot for that time and that special model, becouse they have that car with only 60cv. The light on the sailing is working, you have to turn on the light ( left or right). About suspensions, that car was so amazing you can drive with 3 wheels only ( see some videos about it) and citroen was so good reputation like Ferrari and Porsche back in 60s and 70s. And about the dough score,is never right compared old cars to new cars! Just don't make any sense. See you next video

DUUDE !!! I have been watching your videos for a while now, before you started Cars&Bids ! We get it, the new website, we know it, why add the intro in each video? You can just add a link in the video or something shorter which won't interrupt the whole experience of just seeing a review for a car I like (so many cars.. :)) ). I mean, for someone who hits you channel for the first time - yes - it makes sense, but I frequently hit your channel, I am from Romania (where it is very expensive to get a car from USA, customs etc) and I like the videos, but it is not neccesary to repeat the commercial in each one. Hope this reaches you because I like your videos and format ! Best regards and good luck, Robert

"Maybe" Citroen were ahead of the time? Compare this to the crap mainstream US car makers were chuning out in the 80s. Pity you couldn't have found a series 1 CX with it's revolving drum instruments. Incidentally, the controls around the steering are perfect, once you get used to them. I had a very early series 1 Prestige and currently have a late series 1 Pallas. And you can keep all of the stupid exotica you review. MY dream car is a Citroen SM!. (But not one if the ugly US compliant versions.)

The rear defroster button is placed where it is because it's not a button you need to use while driving, so why not move them away from the easy-reach places reserved for more important stuff? The slot in the centre console under the aftermarket cup holders is for an additional unit in the stereo system. There may be an issue with the suspension as slowly as it raised up. The uppermost setting is known as 'garage setting' and you're NOT supposed to drive with it. You use it when replacing tires... takes out all the slack in the suspension so you only need to jack it a very short distance. Also it's very easy to maintain as long as you have more than 3 braincells. As this isn't the estate version(which are wider in the back) it can be driven at normal speeds even with one rear wheel missing entirely. Even the British Chieftain main battle tanks use Hydropneumatic suspension. And Rolls Royce licensed part of Citroëns system to use on their limousines. In fact, the only thing 'weird' on this or any other Citroën is that they number the engine cylinders the correct way(cyl 1 is closest to the flywheel, where the power is output.) unlike the weird US way, of starting the numbering at the end of the engine with all the messy belts...

Did this guy ever see a car before 2000??? Every Cadillac or Lincoln I ever owned had FOUR ashtrays & lighters - ILLUMINATED - until the end of the 20th century... Space above the glove box? Oh, I don't know - maybe it's where THE HVAC STUFF IS! (OMG, and the "aftermarket" cupholders?? K-Mart junk with a 2x2 piece of wood & electrical tape!!!) OMG II: That "covered-up-rear-wheel-arch" is called a FENDER SKIRT you ignoramus! It only dates back to the 40's or 30's... AND it only disappeared from American luxury cars between 1977 & 1980. FINALLY: He couldn't do any research for WHY they indented the rear window??

He forgot to mention perhaps the most defining characteristic - the title justification - CX, in engineering terms, is the coefficient of drag, and the Citroën CX was designed at the outset as the most aerodynamically perfect car ever developed - a title it may still be close to, even in today’s energy-crunching craze. The single-spoke steering wheel is derived from the even quirkier predecessor, the DS, and the turn signals that are not self cancelling come with that, though the placement of the lights and wipers on adjacent pods came at the time of the CX and the down-sized GS - we called them “sattélites”. The successor to the CX was the XM - Not sure if that was ever marketed in the US, but a far more exotic precursor is the Citroën-Maserati SM, which can be found in high-end markets wherever snake-skin upholstery is a regular option.

The Prestige was a long wheelbase version of the CX which used the floorpan and rear doors from the estate version. The rear roof was also higher which ruined the styling somewhat. The concave rear window was designed to keep itself clear without the aid of a wiper. I suspect from the way Doug's head is bobbing around makes me think the suspension spheres are knackered and need replacing. Despite his verdict, the steering is extremely accurate and quick as well as being very easy to drive at high speed with a feeling of immense stability. An extra benefit of the suspension is that it can safely be driven on three wheels and will remain stable in case of a tyre blowing out.

The spare tire in engine might be a clever places to have a warm tire in the winter, then they could go safari by putting it on the hoods instead. It look like a better Prius car yet better spec all around. Why more cars aren't backseat as this?! It as close as Futurama! 1920 event car design you can get, but everything need to be race car.

The CX is a great car, I have had two of them. The diesel engine are sturdy and reliable, the car is fantastic to drive. There are no other anything near its comfort on long touring. You can load it with 5-600 kg without any dramatic effect on the car. I've driven them for over 500 000 km with only oilchange and filter, and valveadjustment. Very reliable

It’s certainly not as beautiful as the DS, but it’s got its own charm. Citroën really cared about aero way earlier than most - that was born out of French postwar fuel rationing. The drag factor of the DS has only been surpassed in recent years, it was identical to many 90s aero jello cars, whilst looking way nicer. But didn’t a bunch of American cars from the 60s have covered rear wheels too?

You've absolutely got to love Citroen vehicles from their own era. I borrowed a Citroen for 3 months from this era and it was such wonderful quirky fun. It always left me smiling. Mind you, I never had to service it. That could be a problem. Citroen was a hugely innovative company though. Several of the modern auto design components we take for granted these days were either invented or developed by Citroen. They were just years ahead of their time. Doug didn't mention it, but I bet this car had steering following headlights. First seen a decade or so earlier - on an earlier Citroen. BTW, panel gaps. Impressive distance, eh? Who cares.
