Meet Stella, the dog that "talks"

Speech-language pathologist Christina Hunger, who helps toddlers behind in their language development by teaching them to use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to express themselves non-verbally, decided to teach her puppy, a Catahoula and Australian Cattle Dog mix, to use the device. And the results have been astonishing. Correspondent Nancy Giles reports the fascinating story of Stella, a dog with a lot to say, and is the subject of Hunger’s new book, “How Stella Learned to Talk.”

We have all seen "Planet of the Apes" and how they took over. If this trend keeps going humans will be overtaken by dogs. Earth will become "Planet of the Dogs "

An Elon Musk vid featured at the end of this clip. The irony..she is a real inventor and innovator, as opposed to an inheritor

Why is this being reported as if this is something new? This kind of speech research has been ongoing for YEARS with animals. Similarly it's kinda daft to think that communication only happens when there is a 'word' spoken at the end of it; animals ALREADY do exactly this WITHOUT words

Remarkably sensational! Your honour, I'd like to call my next key witness to the case ..

This is truly amazing to see. But being an owner to a pair of Aluskies. I am glad they are expressive enough to let me know what they want most of the time. K9s are really smart if u take the time to train and understand their K9 body language.

#EndYulin !! 😢 #EndDogMeat #BanCatMeat #StopTheTorture US-first Search: "Yulin festival The fate of abducted pets" 😢 !!!!! Korea, China, Vietnam! Why else did Covid-19 come from a market in China, God is waking everyone up to this atrocity! POOR HEARTS = POOR PEOPLE = POOR COUNTRIES. Where are your public health and market/slaughterhouse standards? Can you not afford inspection services and initiate proper licenses and inspections and health measures? Where is your peoples moral compass as they beat animals to death with rods? Why no proper training to those who sell livestock in how to throughly carry out a proper and humane way to slaughter for consumption? Is there a lack of leadership? U.S. is just as poor, but some poorer than others, that is why I say, "MADNESS! MADNESS!! MADNESS HAS COVERED THE WHOLE EARTH!!"

TALK?? skeptical but this is an opinion based on a 4 min video. What is the difference between Stella ringing a bell to go out and stepping on a switch that says the word "outside"? looks like I have some research to do.

We had an English Cocker and she knew over 30 words and phrases that we knew of. Even now my STD Poodle and ChiWienie know the difference between kennel and doggie jail😝, even though it is the same place. It's all in reading the ears and tail.

I used to have a heeler. Heelers are basically collies crossed with Dingoes. I wanted to X with a Catahoula which is a Collie crossed with an American Red wolf. So that would be a Heelahoula and it would be 1/2 Collie 1/4 wolf and 1/4 dingo !! I own an RV park in Arizona and I had a guest come through about a month ago who's daughter raises Heelahoulas !!! I wish I would have known about this video.

All conjecture. I wish they focused on each step of the learning process. How does Stella distinguish what buttons to push? Does Stella read the button or just recall what buttons give her the response she is seeking from the human?
Disconcerting Eccentricity
How many idiots actually believe this is real if you do you're a gullible idiot.

There are some people who are working on inventing a collar that will convey words to people from animals. I can see it in the future that pets might be recognized more as sentient beings, less as laborers, slaves, a means to make money from over breeding.

My dog talks constantly. It's getting him to hush that's the problem lol
We use this kind of button by the door, and when our girls want to go out, they step on it. It says "Outside!!" in my voice. I also use it to call them to go outside. Works great

Elon Musk's Neuralink is going to allow dogs to speak like this, except without the buttons. It will will be similar to how the dog from the movie Up could speak. The future is going to be crazy...

I love Sunday Morning but the introduction was very misleading. They said the reporter doing the segment would be in conversation with the dog. That ABSOLUTELY did not happen. it was more of them interviewing the owner then at the end getting dog kisses. There was no conversation between the interviewer and the dog.

Very good video. My dog Roscoe N.Y has a yellow toy pig and when he is wanting to go out he uses his paws on the pig called Clara Bell to say right now! This video is excellent. I loved it. thank you. OH the pig has a very loud sweek very loud.

She definitely wasn't the 1st one to do this. I watched 3 or the US-first videos in which 3 of the people claiming that they were the 1st ones to do this. Look up bunny the talking dog and others they all claim to be first

This is nonsense, no different than teaching a rat to complete a maze to get a food pellet. The dog has been trained to tap certain buttons to get rewards, like food and play time.

I always talk to my dogs because I know that they understand a great deal of what you are saying and can understand even more if you actually talk to them. I've had dogs that knew the spelling of some words. Even if you tried to say or spell the word in a different tone - they knew what you were saying. Most of my dogs were also really good at having different signals for different things they wanted. If you watch your dog closely enough, they are already talking to you.

People are even using this button board to train their cats to talk (and curse). It's amazing!
