You will make the best choice possible for Buddy Rick but take your time. I can hear your grief coming through. This is no time for descisions. Doing things is usually the best way of distracting yourself. Poor Belle really is harrased by that donkey (or is it a mule) and she kicked him good but that dude is really persistant.

I can really see the loss in Buddy's eyes. He knows exactly what has happened, and seems to have grown older over night. I broke down when I saw the demise of Mr T. He has given many other horses better lives.

I was one of the people that didn't like you at first because I thought you were being mean to Lester. I have followed Ima Survivor Sanctuary for years. I have to tell you I cried so much and I donโ€™t even know anything about you or your page. I just wanted to tell you that I felt so much sympathy and compassion for you. It is never easy loosing an animal. I am so sorry for your loss. May time make it easier for you. ๐Ÿ’”

Watching the end of Mr. T was so sad. I'm glad Mr. T had a good life. Btw I work for a pet cremation center. Horses can be buried or chemical decay. I mostly deal with Lamas and alpacas. Plus a lot of dogs. It's a sad job, but I wouldn't do it, if I didn't love animals.

When our Cocoa passed away, we were living out of state and where she was being boarded with our other horse, they buried her underneath her favorite tree. Our other girl went to that spot daily for just over 10 years and would lay down or stand where she was buried. Rain or snow, she would go there. Nothing stopped her. Same time every day she would make her way there for about an hour. She had a lot of interaction with the neighbor's 10+ horses but she would leave them to go to the tree. We finally moved back and brought her home. We also rescued some horses and they are one happy 4 horse herd now. I'm so glad that you are really working to keep Buddy mentally strong. People don't realize how hard animals take it when they lose companion etc. RIP Mr. T. Even though we never met you, we loved you.

While itโ€™s your choice, I would hate to see you let go of Buddy. He loves and trusts you. You are so good with horses...please take the time to grieve Mr. T. Youโ€™ll be in a better place to make decisions; and maybe get another horse that you can offer a fantastic home and a new friend for Buddy.

I think it would be lovely to plant a tree where Mr T is buried, or perhaps an arbor with a little bench where you can sit and remember him. I'm glad that you have Bell there to distract you and Buddy a little bit. It's really natural to feel lost and devastated right now - Mr T was your friend for such a long time. But don't rush into any decisions. Take time to grieve and see how you feel when you come out the other side. I know it doesn't feel like it now, but in time you will forget the pain and only remember the good times.

Oh God, I haven't been on here for about two weeks and I find Mr T has gone to Rainbow Bridge. The pain in your heart must be tremendous, those of us who have lost our furry friends/family members feel your pain also. Mr T loved you as you loved him and after he left this world I hope you hit the bottle. No words can ease your pain and now you must concentrate on Buddy's pain (as you are) because like you he is missing his friend. Mr T had a wonderful life with you bless you Mr T and hugs and kisses for Buddy.

Please get another horse or two so Buddy can have company. Donโ€™t rehome Buddy because he loves you and is used to his home. I know it hurts to lose a horse because Iโ€™ve lost one as well. I never got anymore horses and I really regret it now. You will, too. Best wishes to you and Buddy.

I love the idea of planting a tree where Mr T is resting. Very fitting reminder. But dont you be thinking of rehoming Buddy ! Buddy belongs with you and your relationship with him will become stronger now that Buddy doesnt have Mr T to keep him in check. The mare in the next paddock will be enough to keep him horse happy. Thinking of you. Take care.
Gelisgi Allen
Gelisgi Allen 7 days ago
Rick, we're hoping you're taking care of yourself, as you take care of Buddy and the other critters. No need to make a decision about rehoming Buddy yet. Let the fire die down some first, so you can make a decision you won't regret. I had horses for many years. And when my health got so that I couldn't keep up anymore, and had to admit that my horse keeping days were behind me, it was life changing. You're never the same when you don't have your little herd to care for. Then my ancient dog was killed by a wolf. Husband wanted to get me another dog, but I'm in my 60's and didn't want to get a pup that would more than likely have to transition to someone else. So he bought me an older pit/red heeler mix. We're perfect for each other. I'm the alpha again, training another doggo, and she has a loving home. She pays me back a hundred times. Lil Dumplin is 60 pounds of affection and obedience. (And she gets along fine with horses, mules, chickens, cats, other dogs, and goats.) Perhaps after you get through the initial shock of losing wonderful Mr. T you might consider getting an older horse that truly needs a loving home. Could be a win win. If you need a break, come spend some time here in the heart of White Mountain elk country. At 7,000 ft elevation, the summers in Arizona high country are amazing. We ought to be fully fenced within 3 weeks, you could fetch Buddy along and ride these peaceful wooded hills. The invitation is always open. Take care, friend. The critters need you.

Iโ€™m touched by the way you care for your Buddy and by the hundreds details that you pay attention for him to feel ok. I wish you would also report how YOU feel on day +1 and what do you do to take care of YOURSELF. Would you tell us what you need or did to help yourself overcome the sudden passing of Mr. T? And by the way, thank you so much to have had the courage to film the situation for us to learn. I was crying all the way, hearing you feeling helpless, describing the evolution of Mr T abnormal breathing and spasms. And YES, you gave him 30years of good life, love, good care, great pasture and friends!! The proof is Mr T decided to pass only seconds before you finally were ready to shoot him to deliver him from his pain. Thatโ€™s the best last present and way to say thank you he could have shown you. You are so charismatic and altruist. Now itโ€™s time to take care of of your own mourning journey, and post a video about what you did to help you (only if you want).

What? Mr. T. finally passed away? Oh, Rick, I'm sorry to that? Well, on a good note, you gave Mr. T. the best horse life ever. If he had to have been returned to the BLM for the third time, he would have dead by then. You saved his life. Did he just die all of a sudden? Tell me about, Rick. Love you, and Buddy, Smokey.

Dear Rick my condolence to you regarding the great Mr t. As I am grieving for Mr t and grieving for my beloved cat that I lost a couple of weeks ago and would always enjoy she enjoyed listening to your videos and the way you would talk to Mr t and Buddy and mookie. God knows what buddy needs and God will direct buddy in the way he should go. No need to worry about getting a new horse God will take care of Buddy and you. Again with a heavy heart.
